Look no further than Neal Maupay. It says much about the Premier League these days that a £20m arrival barely raises a flicker in the public’s consciousness, but for what the Seagulls potentially picked up in the summer, it should’ve done.
Maupay – who represented France from U-16 to U19 level – arrived in England in July 2017, signing for Brentford in The Championship. A stunning 2018/19 season, where he scored 28 times in 46 appearances put him on the radar of Graham Potter and Brighton Technical Director Dan Ashworth.
And he is beginning to pay back their faith. He is currently his side’s highest individual Fantasy League points scorer with six, and the confidence boost of scoring twice already could well see him continue his upward trajectory.
Perhaps less under the radar, but the Wilson (non) brothers from Bournemouth surprisingly remain unsold in many leagues.
This is unlikely to last given their form which sees Callum in the Fantasy League points top 10 for all players so far, and which has seen Harry pick up nine points as a result of his three goals.
Remarkably, they are not the only (non) brothers at Bournemouth, with the Smiths (Adam and Brad) and the Cooks (Lewis and Steve) also in the Cherries’ ranks. But it’s the Wilsons you want to keep your eye firmly on.
The undoubtedly biggest clash of the weekend takes place at Molineux, where the two winless ‘Ws’ – Wolves and Watford – face off.
Expect a bitty game with any defining moment likely to come from the more confident players – one of which could be Will Hughes. A goal and a Fantasy League assist this season from midfield, in a struggling, changeable team is a decent effort, and he could make the difference on Saturday too.
Wolves face Man City after the Hornets, and so getting nothing out of this game will be even more unpalatable for boss Nuno Espirito Santo.
With a fully-fit squad, playing at home against a leaky defence, and no European or International distractions, the Portuguese surely expects three points from his players.
He’s owed a performance particularly by Joao Moutinho and Diego Jota – two popular players in Fantasy League teams, but conspicuously short on points so far this season.
